Preparing Your Puppy for Their First Groom
Puppy grooms should feel like fun, not fear! Start building positive grooming associations early with these simple steps:
1. Introduce the Hairdryer Early
Use your home hairdryer near your pup while they snuggle in their happy place (your lap, the sofa, their bed). This helps them get used to the sound and breeze — no surprises at the salon!
2. Practice Paw Handling
Get your pup used to having their feet touched and brushed. You can even use puppy-safe nail scissors to clip just the tips of their nails between grooms. Bonus: fewer scratchy zoomies!
3. Trim Safely Around the Eyes
Invest in blunt-tipped puppy scissors to gently tidy hair around their eyes so they can see clearly. These are safe even for wriggly pups and make a big difference in their comfort.
I hope these tips help you and your pup feel more confident on their appointment — and make your next groom easier, quicker, and more enjoyable for everyone (especially your groomer ).
With love and fluff,
Hollie xoxo
